:: yard work ::

The other day, well, like two weeks ago... Edwin and I decided to tackle our yard. It needed some work and we got 3 flats of flowers, planted, pulled up a dead bush, and laid out mulch.

However, during this task, Edwin had to run to LOWES to get a little more potting soil for my precious plants. While he was gone, I asked hime to find something pretty to replace the dead bush we had to pull out. Well, his truck was full of mulch so he had to take my car.

And this is how he pulled up to the house...

I loved it! So, we planted away and our finished product... which, by the way... looks better now because Edwin actually blew the sidewalk and the flowers are blooming bigger :)

Thats what I love about Sundays...

People ask, "What do you do every Sunday at JoJo's house?" My response: "Well, you go to church, eat, talk, celebrate birthdays, and sometimes if your lucky... JoJo will let you dig up plants to root for your own house."

Well, this Sunday was just that ALL rolled into one. There were the church goers, we ate to celbrate Dave's birthday, we talked and we got LUCKY and JoJo let all of us dig up, steal and root plants. I was able to cut off some Jasmine to root and here it is... in a bucket, in hopes to grow roots. :)

quilts

In both our families, we have accumulated at least 4 quilts. One from my JoJo's grandma made from chicken sacks, one from Edwin's great uncle Luther, one from Edwin's great aunt Marilyn, and one from our church when we got married. We also have another quilt on it's way from Edwin's Great Uncle Luther as our wedding gift. Each one is hand made and very special to us. We have had them stored in the closet on the top rack and never really put them on display. But now, we found a quilt rack in the barn at JoJo's, cleaned it up and put it all on display! :)

This weekend, we went to visit Edwin's parents in Saint Matthews. Edwin was helping his dad do a few things around the house, but much to our surprise, they also gave us a beautiful quilt rack. I have already plotted the perfect spot for it along with the new black and white quilt we are getting for getting married. Hopefully, I will be able to post pictures of these new things as soon as we get them all! Thanks Papa Rick and Mrs. Cindy!!!!! :)

Remmi's doings

Last year, Edwin got a phone call from his dad and said, "I know a guy who has a Boykin Spaniel and he wants to give him away. He is a sweet dog and likes to be around people." So, Edwin convinces me to get this dog and me with my EXTREMELY large heart (ha) decided to get him. Edwin left me solo to get this dog on a cold rainy day and bring him to our house while he was partying in Savannah for St. Patty's Day. I knew Remmi and I already did not begin on a good note!

In our journey Remmi has some how accomplished the following:
1. chewed through a plastic kennel
2. escaped from a metal kennel
3. convinced us to put a fence in the backyard
4. escaped from fence in backyard
5. shattered my turtle tank
6. peed on the couch
7. peed in our bed
8. chewed a hole in our carpet
9. ripped a hole in our curtains and attempted to rip them off the wall
10. pooed/ peed/ threw up in every single room in the house

Now our latest mess up is our back door...

some how I allow this dog to be a part of our family. And maybe it's because I really do have a big heart! Because of all of these aggrevating events, Edwin has finally built me this...

Now, I can actually have some furniture for our back porch and have people over without having to look at our disgusting muddy porch. Edwin's next attempt is to build me some furniture for out there... this weekend, he is making me a coffee table out of barn wood! It's goin to be gorgeous! :)

A trip to the Zoo!

Saturday, Brandy, Josie, and Wes came to pick me up early in the morning to begin our trip to the zoo. We met Ca-Ca (Erica) and Houston, Cindy and Tyler, loaded up the hube stroller and began walkin around the zoo. Wes loved the penguins and the monkies, Josie loved everything and well Houston... he just loved us holding him!! I certainly enjoyed my day with all my little monkies!!!

Houston made funny faces at me!

A preview of the summer :)

I think everyone enjoyed themselves! I mean, how could you not... it was a beautiful day... babies were good and the adults got to act like kids! It was wonderful :)

Minute to win IT

Have you seen the commercials about the new show "Minute to win it"? It's a new game show where you have to complete silly little tasks within 60 seconds to win a million bucks. The tasks get harder as the amount of money goes up... the show began last week and Edwin is in love with it. Yup, so in love that he himself has gone to the website and looked up some of the tasks... he is now one of the thousands of Americans who are trying to learn the tasks so he can enter to "win it". One task he has been workin on is the "cookie to the face" challenge... You must put a cookie on your forehead and using only your face muscles, you have to get the cookie into your mouth. Here is a video of Edwin trying out the challenge! ENJOY :)

Maybe one day his skills will benefit us in winning on the show!

The CHICKEN Man :)

For a while... I've wanted a picture from the "The Funkychicken Man" also known as Ernest Lee. Some people are probably thinking... a chicken?!? Really Jess... what could be so cool about a chicken... well, you are about to find out!!!

I have seen these pictures in several places, my roommate from college, friends houses from around town, pictures hanging in restaurants and well... on the internet... but I've never seen Ernest himself.... until TODAY :)

I was on my way to Brandy's to visit and just happened to look to the side of the road and to who did I see... ERNEST! I gasped and slammed on breaks but realized I had already passed... so, I told myself if he was still there on my way back, I would definitely stop! I visited Brandy and anxiously kept trying to leave because I was still kinda scared that maybe Ernest would leave, but nope... I was so excited that Ernest tried to sell my five and yes, I did think about it but then realized what in the world would I do with FIVE pictures!?! So, I settled with these...

I had to settle with 3 chickens cause the lady beside me took my really cute palmetto tree... I was super duper disappointed... but oh well... they are really cute and I am already bugging Edwin out the wha-zoo to put them up!!!
